Plaska Lodge built its name and reputation as one of the premier white-tailed deer destinations in Texas. Through decades of intensive management, we consistently harvest high-quality bucks, with some exceeding 180" in the past. Archery hunts are conducted from elevated tree stands overlooking travel corridors and feeders, based on scouting reports and conditions.

Although mule deer populations in our region have faced challenges from drought and overhunting, these resilient animals are making a strong comeback thanks to the efforts of TPWD and Plaska Lodge. We’ve harvested bucks over 190" in past seasons. Archery hunts take place in a variety of habitats—from Red River bottoms to surrounding ag fields—and utilize elevated stands, pop-up blinds, brush blinds, and spot-and-stalk opportunities when possible.

This hunt offers the rare opportunity to pursue both mule deer and white-tails. Rifle hunts are conducted from box blinds and brush blinds over travel corridors and food plots, with spot-and-stalk opportunities when possible.

Plaska Lodge is renowned for producing some of the largest wild hogs in the world. We harvest hogs over 300 lbs. just about every year, with some exceeding 700 lbs. in the past. These hogs are, by in large, intelligent and wise. It takes patience, grit, and persistence to have the oppurtunity to harvest one. These free-range hunts provide an extremely challenging and rewarding experience, with exceptional trophies roaming the ranch.

The counties we hunt host some of the largest winter roosts of turkeys in the nation and produce incredible numbers in the spring. In good years, bird populations exceed all expectations, and even in challenging years, the hunt remains thrilling. While we have great numbers of birds every year, we take a very limited number of hunters as part of our sustainable management program. These wild turkeys are intelligent and provide a rewarding challenge, making a successful hunt all the more satisfying. There is nothing as exciting as working a big ole tom into shotgun range.

We target wild bobwhite quail in native habitat—no pen-raised birds. Flush rates can exceed 10 coveys a day, with hunters seeing 25+ coveys per day in the past. It's a fast-paced, rewarding hunt for upland enthusiasts.
